چکیده

Root and soil populations of Meloidogyne incognita were significantly fewer from marigold, castor bean, and chrysanthemum than from tomato roots and soil, but not from fallow soil. Root populations of Pratvlenchus alleni were significantly fewer from marigold, castor bean, and chrysanthemum than from tomato: marigold had the fewest. Root populations of M. incognita and P. alleni from tomato simultaneously cultivated with marigold, castor bean, and chrysanthemum were significantly fewer than from tomato cultivated alone. Aborted giant cells and dead M. incognita (larvae and females) were observed in roots of marigold and castor bean, but not in chrysanthemum or tomato. Significantly more males than females occurred in castor bean roots. lnfcction sites of P. alleni appeared normal in all hosts. Thin-layer and column chromatography of alcoholic extracts from castor bean revealed no nematicidal thiophenc derivatives.

Root - knot nematode ( Meloidogyne incognita ) management using botanicals in tomato ( Lycopersicon esculentum )

Root-knot nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, is the major limiting factor in tomato production in many regions of the world including Ethiopia. For its management, different plant species (botanicals) are being tried in different forms as an alternative to nematicides. The nematicidal potential of baker tree (Milletiaferruginea), bitter leaf (Vernonia amygodalina), parthenium (Parthenium hysterop...

Dynamics of Concomitant Populations of Pratylenchus Vulnus and Meloidogyne Incognita on Peach

Nyczepir, A. P. 2009. Dynamics of concomitant populations of Pratylenchus vulnus and Meloidogyne incognita on peach. Nematropica 39:273-279. The effect of the interaction between Meloidogyne incognita and Pratylenchus vulnus on nematode reproduction and vegetative growth of Lovell peach was studied in field microplots. Pratylenchus vulnus suppressed the population density of M. incognita second...

Host-range characterization of two Pratylenchus coffeae isolates from Brazil.

Two isolates of Pratylenchus coffeae were collected from coffee roots (in Marília, São Paulo State, Brazil) and Aglaonema (in Rio de Janeiro City, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil) and maintained in the laboratory on alfalfa callus. Twenty-four plants were tested in the greenhouse to characterize the host preference of these isolates. The host ranges of the isolates differed from each other and, in...

Effects of Tagetes patula on Active and Inactive Stages of Root-Knot Nematodes.

Although marigold (Tagetes patula) is known to produce allelopathic compounds toxic to plant-parasitic nematodes, suppression of Meloidogyne incognita can be inconsistent. Two greenhouse experiments were conducted to test whether marigold is more effective in suppressing Meloidogyne spp. when it is active rather than dormant. Soils infested with Meloidogyne spp. were collected and conditioned i...
